JOB SUMMARY

Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services (LCBHS) is recruiting for a Security Supervisor position. The position will be responsible for the management and ongoing development of the agency’s security services. The role will be primarily positioned at The Core Center, which provides 24/7 crisis care services for youth and adults, while also performing duties at the Ebel Recovery Center, which provides substance use treatment and detoxification services for adults.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide direct administrative supervision of security officer staff, offering support and guidance in managing daily operations. Ensures security services provided are supportive of the agency’s mission and promote the safety and security of agency personnel and persons served.

  • In conjunction with the Crisis Program Manager, recruit and hire security officer staff, ensuring that the hired staff meet the criteria for the position.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures relating to safety and security of agency personnel and persons served.

  • Complete probationary and annual performance evaluations for security officer staff.

  • Responsible for security staff schedules.

  • Serve as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as security staff employed by other agencies. Promote and maintain harmonious and effective relationships and communications with said agencies. Participate in investigations as needed.

  • Review incident reports, security logs, video camera footage, etc., providing follow-up and education when needed to improve safety and security procedures.

  • Provide routine training to agency personnel related to safety and security, with emphasis on non-violent crisis intervention.

  • Train new staff as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.

 

Required Licensure/Certification and Experience/Abilities

  • Certified as a Law Enforcement officer in the state of South Dakota required.

  • 5 years experience as a Certified Law Enforcement officer preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other professional agencies, other employees, supervisors, and the public.

  • Sensitivity to special needs of the clients; and ability to recognize, and work with cultural and ethnic differences.

  • Ability to plan and organize time effectively.

  • Ability to safely operate passenger vans and non-passenger vehicles.

  • Ability to interpret and follow written state guidelines.

  • Ability to follow directives of supervisors.
