JOB SUMMARY

Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services (LCBHS) is recruiting for a Licensed Professional Counselor, Mental Health therapy position. The position will be responsible for providing professional mental health services to youth and adults experiencing mental health and addiction-related crisis. This includes professional treatment planning and evaluation and referring to in-house and community resources to meet the patient’s needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform certification evaluations for Board of Mental Illness holds.

  • Interview patients and develop treatment plans for assigned cases, requesting assistance from superiors and clinical peers as required. Discusses difficult cases in clinical supervisory and peer group meetings.

  • Provide intake and crisis services and refer to in-house and community resources to meet patient needs.

  • Serve as a member of the crisis care team, providing consulting and related therapy services to schools or other organizations.

  • Provide indirect clinical supervision to crisis care team members, within scope of practice.

  • Conduct various routine psychological tests. Prepare and maintain necessary records and reports.

  • Maintain therapeutic posture with patients experiencing emotional instability, exercising self-control in volatile situations such as verbal/physical threats and/or confrontation. Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation.

  • Maintain patient confidentiality. Immediately report safety concerns related to patient care issues, maintenance concerns, property destruction, theft, or any other safety concern preventing or directly or indirectly impacting the effective provision of treatment services.

  • Participate in on-call rotation with other QMHP staff employed by the agency, supporting crisis care services.

  • Assist with training of new staff as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team.


Required Licensure / Certification and Experience / Abilities:

  • QMHP valid license such as a LPC-MH, MSW, Psychologist, or CNP required.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Sensitivity to special needs of the patients; and ability to recognize, and work with cultural and ethnic differences.

  • Knowledge of professional methods and techniques of mental health therapy.

  • Knowledge of the various mental and related illnesses and methods of treatment.

  • Knowledge of the professional methods and techniques of individual, family, and group therapy.

  • Ability to diagnose various mental and related illnesses and to develop and carry out treatment plans.

  • Ability to make routine professional and administrative decisions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, other employees, and the public.

  • Strong organization, compassion, good character.

  • Ability to community effectively, orally and in writing.

  • Ability to plan and organize time effectively.

  • Ability to interpret and follow written state guidelines.

  • Ability to follow directives of supervisors.
